Exercise to break the stress cycle

We can get stuck in a stress cycle for months, even years, without being aware this is going on in our bodies. The impact can be very detrimental to our physical health such as being ill all the time, chronic pain, injuries that just won’t heal.

So how do we break this cycle?

Finding out what activity helps you feel a little better each day, it could be walking the dog, meditation, kickboxing, painting, dancing but what is important is that it works for you. With practice you will begin to recognise how the stress cycle feels for you and which days you need to spend a bit more or less time to complete the cycle.

E & A Nagoski authors of ‘Burnout’ talk about being well is to be able to….” move fluidly from a state of adversity, risk, adventure, or excitement, back to safety and calm, and out again. Stress is not bad for you; being stuck is bad for you”.
