Therapy, support and coaching for ADHD & or Autism
If you have clicked on this page then maybe you are wanting to learn more about yourself as a neurodivergent adult. (Read on further for my work with young people.)
Maybe you have known for some time that you are neurodivergent and you are now hitting some road blocks in life and need a little help.
How I work
I work with your priorities and goals for therapy, and at the same time help you to gain more understanding of yourself. If you have been part of an assessment this is only the beginning. Often the next part is the most important. Taking time out to understand what being neurodivergent means for you.
I work on a short term and long term basis with clients, depending on your needs. Book a free, no obligation chat.
What to expect from a session
Each session will consist of time to talk through what you are struggling with, as well as some coaching in how to overcome these difficulties.
The second part of the session will allow for hypnosis which is very effective for a neurodivergent mind.
All neurodivergent clients I have worked with have found this new experience of a softer focus, whilst being relaxed, particularly useful. As it reduces anxiety and creates a very safe and calming experience. Giving you a break from your busy mind that is often self critical, and allows instead a focus on positive self belief.
About Me
I am autistic and have ADHD. I also have 3 neurodivergent children. I didn’t find out I was neurodivergent until I was an adult and it was then that my whole life made sense.
I had suffered with anxiety since being very young and now I understand myself better and I am able to manage and structure my life in a way that supports my wellbeing.
I have had various forms of therapy in the past due to difficulties with anxiety and low mood. I often felt I was just getting therapy wrong. Now I understand that their approach did not have the understanding of neurodivergence and that is why it didn’t work. Working with a therapist that has had specific training in neurodivergence is key. My clients tell me that working with a therapist who is neurodivergent brings immediate safety to the session, allowing for quicker and more effective change.
I work with neurodivergent young people
I know how important it is to create a safe environment for young people to feel heard and understood.
I help young people to:
Express how they experience the world
Identify and celebrate their strengths
Develop coping strategies to manage the challenges they face in a neurotypical world
Develop a strong identity of who they are and build confidence from this
Identify techniques that can bring about more control when life becomes overwhelming
I use a number of methods within the therapy room, including hypnosis which is very effective with young people. Hypnosis allows a busy neurodivergent mind to be calm and allow the body to experience deep relaxation.
