Is the route in for our neurodivergent selves the body? π±
Through my years of working with people, in many different fields, I find my practice more drawn to the physical self to give us knowledge and change. π
Neurodiversity is often talked about in relation to our racing minds, anxiety, overwhelm, emotion challenges, what of our physical state?
Our nervous systems are often running on high alert.
Adrenaline and cortisol are fuel, and sometimes the desired state. π
My work with neurodivergent adults and young people is now more focused on bringing together the awareness of how our brains are wired, but also, crucially what our body is telling us.
My own burn out story, chronic fatigue and life time of anxiety has been helped mainly through understanding my nervous system. Iβm grateful that I can now tune in throughout the day.
How I wish this could be taught in schools. π The awareness of the role of stress, both its benefits and consequences.
Why we need anxiety, to tell us something is wrong.
How we regulate our nervous systems.
How to feel safe. π
Do you take time to notice your physical self during the day?
Where are your shoulders right now? π€¨
