Are you working against your ADHD/Autism?

I notice that many clients are often working against how their brain works, for many different reasons.

Learned coping mechanisms of digging deep and pushing through are often going against what the body and brain needs.

Social constructs often lead us to mask what we need from ourselves, and use energy we don’t have to prove we can show up.

Slowing down and taking a break can be difficult when the brain is wanting more stimulation. Again we strive to do more as the brain seeks out another dopamine hit, ignoring what the body is shouting.

Masking internal struggles and booking back-to-back meetings, often we find there is a meltdown at the end.

Clients are often sharing how a busy time leads to the body being drained and the brain feeling overwhelmed.

So how do we work more with how our brain works?

By tuning into the internal signals that we are pushing against.

When we see tiredness not as a weakness but a signal to listen to, we can see deeper than the low energy we are experiencing.

Pause for a second to consider what you have been doing for the last 24-48hrs.

If you have been booked up with very little time inbetween, consider that a recharge is needed. This is not a weakness but instead it is part of being a highly focused human being.

Neurodivergent professionals often achieve a great deal in a short space of time (often when against a deadline). The flip side is we need to allow a recharge.

Awareness - neurodivergent validation- seeing the strengths - compassion - new choices.

Rinse and repeat this and you will find you are working more with how your amazing brain works.
